Microbes to the Rescue’ Short Story Competition (Deadline Sep 2023)

Microbes to the Rescue’ Short Story Competition Results

We are delighted to share the winners of our Microbes to the Rescue’ short story competition sponsored by the Environmental Biotechnology network.

First prize of £500 goes to Elizabeth Taylor for her story ‘From the Ashes.’ The author uses an engaging family drama to illustrate how environmental biotechnology can transform plastic waste management into a circular system to avoid plastic waste from entering the environment.

The second prize of £200 goes to Vaze Prashant for ‘’For the Common Good’. This eco-thriller with the theme of industrial espionage had us gripped.

Third prize of £100 goes to Brianna Franklin for ‘Up Shit’s Creek,’ a fun story told from the point of view of microbes at a sewage treatment plant.
